This SOP outlines the steps to link media files, such as PDFs or images, directly to the site menu on a Tent Apps website. It provides a straightforward process for logging in, selecting the appropriate menu, and adding media links effectively.
Hey guys, I want to show you how to link a media file to your site menu. Um, what I mean by that is, let's go to the front end of this site. What I want to do is, I want to change this link right here from a link to a page, but instead I want it to open directly to a PDF. So, in order to accomplish this, you'll want to log in to the back end of your website, and then you should see a tab over here that says Appearance, and then you will click Menus. Now, once that loads, we want to make sure where we have the correct menu selected. So, I want to choose that. And this is the menu that I want to edit. So, this is the old link that links to a page. First things first is I want to remove that. You might necessarily want to do that step, but in this instance I do. So, I'm going to remove it. And then I'm going to hit this drop down that says custom links. And the link text is going to be this kind of title right here so this is going to be the lunch menu. Now, I need a URL to paste right here. So, I have another tab open that has our media library. And if you want to upload a PDF or an image, you're going to click add media file, select files, choose a file from your computer. And then it'll add it to this menu down here. Now, I want, I believe I want this one right here. And once you click on it, you will see the file URL. So, we want to copy this. Sometimes, it'll sometimes this button can be a little bit finicky and it doesn't work every time. So, I just like to highlight the entire link and copy it. And then we can go over to this tab and paste it. When we click add to menu, it will automatically add it down at the bottom. And we can just drag it where we want it to go. So, I believe right about here is what we wanted. And then we just hit save menu. Now, once that's saved, we want to check it on the front end to make sure that our usage is correct and can actually interact with it correctly. So, I have our front end opened right here, but I first need to reload this page. Alright, once that has reloaded, we can hover over here and you can see in the bottom left hand of my screen, you should be able to see that the link that popped up is a link to that PDF. So, when I click on it, it'll open directly to a PDF. So, that's very quick and easy how to add a PDF. You can also add an image to your menu either way, but that's how you add media links to your site menu.
