Context

This SOP outlines how to make basic edits within the backend of a Tent Apps mobile app. These are safe, user-friendly changes that clients can make without risk of breaking the app

Step by Step 

1. Accessing the App Editor

• Log in to the backend of your mobile app.
  
  

• Once logged in, the dashboard will appear.
  
  

• Click the blue Edit button to begin making changes.
  
  

• Hover over the screen to identify the editable areas.
  
  

• Navigate to and click on Layout of Home to enter the main editing area.
  
  

2. Understanding the Layout Editor

• The right side of the screen shows sections that correlate with sections on your app.
  
  

• As you hover over each section, it highlights the corresponding area in the app.
  
  

3. Section Management

A. Turn a Section On or Off

• Click the toggle to turn a section off (it will disappear from the app).
  
  

• Example Use Case:
  
  

• Use for seasonal sections (e.g. Easter promotions) that only need to appear during specific months.
  
  

• Benefits:
  
  

• Allows you to temporarily hide sections instead of deleting them.
  
  

• Helpful for recurring events — easily reactivate when needed.
  
  

B. Move a Section

• Use the arrow icons to move a section up or down.
  
  

• Move one position at a time or drag a section through the entire layout.
  
  

• Organize sections based on priority or current relevance.
  
  

C. Delete (Trash) a Section

• Click the trash can icon on a section you want to remove.
  
  

• A confirmation prompt will appear: "Are you sure you want to delete this widget?"
  
  

• Click Continue to delete or Cancel to keep the section.
  
  

D. Duplicate a Section

• Click the duplicate icon to copy a section.
  
  

• Useful for replicating design or layout quickly.
  
  

• After duplication:
  
  

• Edit the new section as needed.
  
  

• Delete extras if only partial duplication is needed.
  
  

4. Editing a Section

A. Change the Section Title

• Click into the section you want to edit.
  
  

• Modify the Title field (e.g. change “Messages” to “Sermons”).
  
  

B. Add or Update Description

• Locate the Description field within the section.
  
  

• Add or modify text as needed.
  
  

C. Update the Section Image

• Click the current image to remove it (Trash icon > Continue).
  
  

• Click Browse to upload a new image from your computer.
  
  

• Alternatively, use the Stock Image Library:
  
  

• Enter a search term (e.g. "calendar on phone").
  
  

• Select an appropriate image.
  
  

• Use the Crop Tool to resize and position the image.
  
  

• Optional edits:
  
  

• Turn image black and white
  
  

• Apply blur effects
  
  

• Click Save when done.
  
  

5. Editing External Links

• If a section links to an external site:
  
  

• Add the full URL in the designated field.
  
  

• Important: Append the following to the end of the URL:
  ?gb_open_external=1
  
  

• This ensures compatibility with Apple devices.
  
  

6. Saving and Publishing Changes

• Click Update Now to save your edits.
  
  

• You can do this after each change or once all changes are made.
  
  

• A status message will appear:
  
  

• "Update in Progress" followed by "Project Updated."
  
  

• Note: Changes may take a few minutes to appear in the live mobile app.
